TVH Vets’ 4th at the 2nd Southern Counties Vets League match
After the rain of the 1st meet at Battersea, Hillingdon turned on a warm sunny evening for the second instalment of the vets league.
The Hammer throw kicked off proceedings with debutant throwers John Husbands 3rd in V50 throwing 14.48 and Greg Bennett 5th in V35 with 12.88.
In the 800m James Malcolm ran his first vets league race to a 2:31.4 5th in the V35A with Paul Woodgate 4th in V35B doing a new PB 2:32.8. David Ford, also in his first match ran a 5th place 2:48.4 in the V50.
The 200m saw Matt Ponting make a welcome return to racing with a 4th place 27.2 in M35A and James Malcom coming 3rdwith 28.4 in the B-string. Dave Wilkinson brushed off his hamstring strain to secure 3rd V50 in 28.7 and Nick Michael ran a 34.7 5th in the V60.
Over at the shot put Greg Bennett threw a 7.58m V35 2nd place and John Husbands threw 4th in the V50 with 5.59m.
In the 3000m Christian Nielson ran an excellent 10:32.6 for 5th in the V35A and Paul Woodgate was also 5th in the V35B finishing in 11:10.8. In the V50 race David Ford ran 12:10.9 for (you guessed it) 5th.
Guest places were run by John Husbands in 12:14.3 and James Malcom for an 11:12.8.
In the sand pit Greg Bennett Triple Jumped 10.12m to 3rd and long jumped 4.59m for 4th in the V35.
Finishing up with the 4×100 relay the Valley men held on to 4th place in a tight finish with an overall time of 55.6 seconds.
Well done to the team for turning out in good numbers and putting in some good performances, getting TVH to a 4thplace for the second time.
