TVH Ladies take on Parliament Hill
Six brave runners from the TVH Ladies team took to the hills (and mud) this Saturday, representing the club at the London Championships.
Thames Valley’s top finisher in the Senior Women’s race was Tracy Barlow, who finished 7th in a time of 25:25, despite being misdirected by the marshals, who sent the whole women’s race through the finish line a lap early, resulting in a couple of less perceptive runners to stop altogether!
Next home was Joanna Mobed, who finished in 25th place. Ahead of her for most of the race was Victoria Carter, who was crowned champion of Parliament Hill in the recent civil service cross country championships but decided to complete only the first lap and cheer on the other runners for the latter part of the race on account of her marathon training schedule.
Maire Gorman, who had also helped arrange an officiating course the same day, was TVH’s next finisher in the top 50, in 49th place.
Christine Munden fought off several other club runners to complete the scoring team, placing 182nd overall.
Not far behind, Frankie Lynch bravely took on Parliament Hill in trainers and came 184th. This was a particularly impressive feat given the course had been churned up significantly by several London Youth Games races earlier that day!
