TVH Ladies Secure Top 20 Finish at South of England Road Relays
There were five fantastic representatives at Saturdays South of England AA 4-stage road relays in Aldershot. The A team of Victoria Carter, Fiona Thompson, Siana Jones and Eve Goodhart worked hard to place a creditable 19th place.
Lisa da Silva Reports:
It was nice to see Victoria overcome her injuries from the summer to compete near to her best (having raced an 18min 5000m the night before and run a marathon, yes a marathon, the weekend before)! Victoria brought the ladies back in 28th place amongst a very strong and closely contested field.
Fiona was out next and picked up a whopping 15 places to finish in 13th. Fiona ran the quickest TVH time of the day by over a minute! This strong run set the team up nicely for the latter stages.
Cross country captain Siana was next to go and showed fitness clocking her second fastest time for the course. She held on well to place 15th following Fiona’s notable leap up the field!
U20 and senior debutant Eve, a member of the club since the young age of nine, was a welcome addition to the squad. Thrown in at the deep end on leg four, Eve was not phased and held good form to bring the ladies back in a super top 20 position!
And not to forget our fifth runner Christine Munden who completed leg 1 of an incomplete B team despite carrying a cold. Well done Christine!
The ladies will next be in action at the National 4-stage road relays in Birmingham on the 3rd October against the best of the rest. Watch this space.
