TVH Ladies Cross Country Team – Middlesex Champions Again!

Lisa da Silva reports:
The TVH Senior ladies have been crowned as Middlesex Cross Country Champions for the second year in a row! The 8km event, held at north London’s Alexandra Palace comprised pure mud, swamp and puddles and included two gruelling slogs up the famous palace ‘hill’. Conditions were wet and near freezing, but this did not deter the four TVH representatives from being victorious.
First back for the team was Lisa da Silva, who a little race rusty still managed to secure 4th place and was pleasantly surprised to pick up the bronze medal due to a guest runner having placed just ahead. Next in was Tracy Barlow finishing in a decent 8th place. Tracy’s feet did not enjoy the freezing conditions having turned white before the race had even started, however, she battled on to gain very valuable points for the team. To complete the quartet in style, Joanna Mobed and Maire Gorman both displayed sheer guts and determination, and arguably their best runs of the season to place 15th and 20th respectively, amongst a field of 70 runners.
The ladies were extremely pleased to maintain their title as Middlesex Cross Country Champions for another year, beating runners up London Heathside and Highgate Harriers. A special mention must also go to Maire for lending thermal socks to the team post race, which was greatly appreciated!
