TVH Girls win League Championship Trophy

Going into the last race of the season in the Met League the Valley U15/17 girls were 29 points behind Shaftesbury. They won the match with 152 points to Shaftesbury’s 117 and were crowned league champions with a six point margin 798 points to 792! This is the first time that TVH have won the trophy which was first presented in 1995.

Producing her best form, India Weir led all the way and Kosana Weir chased her home to finish second. Also having great runs, Alice Harray and Verity Walker finished fourth and fifth to win the team race. In eighth place, Eve Goodhart was ever reliably there to cover in case one of the others had a bad run. They are all looking forward to running in the National Championships on the 21st.

The Under 15/17 boys race also had Valley runners at the front of their race. This time Lucillo Burrell just got the better of Karim Mahiddine as they finished second and third. Next home was Abraham Mendes Da Costa also running well for 12th place. It was great to see that Louis Medd’s 24th place helped the team to win the race. Overall the team finished third in the league which was a pleasant surprise. Further down the field Jake Hooley had shoe problems and his 37th place just beat Oliver Weintraub and Nicholas Duer who had their own private tussle.

Under 11 boys and girls had a combined race with Otto Huber finishing 16th and just beating newcomer Ben Moon by two places. Lily Dafter was our lone girl and she did well to finish 24th. At the back of the field, Felix Schaap found it tough, but at least he gave it a go. In the Under 13 Girls race his sister, Freja, was our first girl home in 13th place. She beat Philippine Pourpart-Lafarge by three places but the gap is getting very close. Charlotte Cooney-Quinn has been unwell but came out to run very well for her 23rd place. Lily Salkeld was having her first race and felt that she can improve next time and close the gap on Zakia Mossi who just beat her. Melina Duer started sensibly in last place and passed 10 girls to finish 31st.
