TVH and QPR in early stage discussions about new multi-sport facility
TVH Chairman, Tim Dye, has confirmed that the club has been holding early stage discussions with QPR and Hammersmith & Fulham council about the possibility of building a new multi-sport facility on the site of the current Linford Christie Stadium. This would incorporate both a new football ground for QPR and a new athletics and community sports facility next to it.
Founded in 1887, as well as being one of the UK’s leading athletics clubs, Thames Valley Harriers is an integral part of the local community with whom it works to provide access to sport for people of all ages and backgrounds. The club’s Linford Christie Stadium at Wormwood Scrubs is now in a sorry state of repair. Over the past two years, the club’s management has been seeking partners to help finance the multi-million pound level of investment required. A partnership with a local sports club like QPR, whose community trust already works closely with TVH, makes sense and is certainly worthy of close consideration.
