Tracy Barlow Shines in England Marathon Debut
Tracy Barlow put in a terrific performance as part of the England Athletics team in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon on Sunday October 18th. The performance – which put Tracy in the top 10 in the UK this year – was achieved after speeding to the halfway point in 1:17.46 despite the demanding conditions.
“It was the toughest and coldest marathon I have ever done” she said.
Tracy’s time of 2:38.39 was a PB by more than a minute, improving her own club record to boot. She finished a fine 13th place in the women’s race and 48th overall.
It completes an outstanding season for Tracy who won tune-up races at the Maidenhead Half Marathon and the Norwich 10k as well as putting in strong performances in the successful TVH women’s cross country, road relays and track teams.
There is plenty of promise for the future too as England Athletics sees the Toronto race as a key development opportunity heading towards the 2018 Commonwealth Games team.
