Tracy Barlow blitzes club record in Bath HM
A superb performance by Tracy Barlow in the Bath Half Marathon saw her finish as first Briton and smash her own club record by more than two minutes. Tracy clocked 74:24 – the fastest time by a Briton so far this year – ducking under 75 minutes for the first time, having scorched through the first 10k in 34:54. She finished more than two minutes ahead of the third placed Hayley Munn and second only to Lena Jerotich in the women’s race.
It was perfect preparation for Tracy’s tilt at the London Marathon on April 24 when she will no doubt have her eyes set on her club record of 2:38:39 set in Toronto last October. “I am really pleased with that run today, although it was tough out there, especially coming back into the wind,” Tracy said. “It was hard to keep my focus and when I overtook one of the Kenyans I wasn’t sure how far she was behind me. But that was a big PB for me and my training for London is going really well.”
A good weekend for TVH’s female road runners as Sarah Johnson set a new PB of 35:10 to finish seventh in the women’s race at the highly competitive Trafford 10k in Manchester.
