Strong start to the season for TVH’s Young Athletes at the Southern Road Relays
TVH young athletes competed at the Southern road relays on a glorious sunny autumn day. The relay legs started and finished on the track with a circuit of the hilly park at Crystal Palace. With far fewer TVH young athletes available than a fortnight earlier at the Middlesex relays, there were still some good performances from our U15s and U13s. The young athletes all ran the same course of a little under 3km, with teams of 4 to score in the Boys races and 3 in the Girls races.
The U15 Girls A team finished 27th out of the 78 teams that started, with all the team running well – Maddie Casey (10:50), Philippine Poupart-Lafarge (10:53) and Niamh Murphy the quickest in 10:37. We had two runners in the B team – Olivia Colegrave (11:36) and Capucine Rousset (11:27).
The U15 Boys team finished 38th out of the 53 teams that started and also ran very similar times – Basil Rock (10:13), Nelson Gordon (10:23), Luke Walsh (10:25) and Shami Umasankar the quickest in 10:01.
We didn’t have complete scoring teams in the U13 age groups, but some good performances matching the times of the U15s and Alfie faster than three of our U15 Boys team.
U13 Boys – Alfie Turner (10:10), Sol Inglis (10:43), Morris Rock (12:06).
U13 Girls – Charlotte Edge (10:57), Sasha Mueller (11:10).
The best TVH team result of the day was our women’s team of Sarah Johnson, Kosana Weir, Tracy Barlow and India Weir finishing just outside the medals in 4th place.
