START FITNESS METROPOLITAN LEAGUE 11th January 2020

START FITNESS METROPOLITAN LEAGUE  Fixture 4, Alexander Palace, 11th January, 2020

The fourth Met League fixture at Alexandra Park was a very challenging event. The steep hill climb up to the Palace was very muddy and the wind gathered strenght throughout the day.

Starting with the under 11 boys 2K which didn’t include the hill it was good to have two new TVH competitors. Frank Nixon did extremely well to finish 11th and Zachary Moore also showed their dads that they will be an asset to the Valley. We also had two under 11 girls competing and Ane Folland was well up in the race and finished 14th. Darcy Hill was also well placed against some girls a year older.

It was good to have Cameron McConnon running his first Met League of the season and he had a great run to finish seventh in the under 13 boys 3k. Reggie Rock also was up with the leaders and finished 12th. Louis Moore was also well up in the race but the team only finished 9th without a fourth runner. The girls were also a runner short and after finishing second and third teams at Hillingdon were down in 7th place this time. Having her best run as an under 13, Skye Bishop ran with Ava Levy and they finished 10th and 11th. Emma Hooley finished 42nd and several girls did not get to the race because of trials for the mini marathon.

The junior mens team were also missing Louis and Daniel. Shami Umashankar somehow managed to complete the course without a shoe and luckily only had to run down the hill once. He finished 39th which was a very brave performance. Aidan Ferrand changed his shoes to 12mm spikes and was glad he did. He just held off Morris Rock by two seconds as they finished 52nd and 53rd. Joe Nixon finished 80th which helped the team finish 15th out of 22. Our junior womens team had four under 15s running and although Charlotte Edge was running with Madeleine Casey, Maddie finished 19th and Charlotte 21st. Charlotte was 10th under 15 to finish. Melina Duer recovered from her disaster at Hillingdon to finish 22nd as the team packed in together with Hedda Folland 24th and Zenia Gordon 26th. Sasha Mueller just got the better of Niamh Murphy as they finished 44th and 45th.

Senior / U20 Races –  Chloe Baker was our first finisher in 12th place the Women’s race, even after losing a show half way around the last lap. Alix Vermeulen also ran well in the muddy conditions for 19th place and 3rd U20 in her first race for the club. With Cat Allen in 70th and Jess Dring-Morris in 91st (5th U20) the team are in 8th place out of 12 teams in the League’s 1st Division.

In the Men’s race Michael Cameron and Oli Newton had great runs in 19th and 21st places, Conor Kissane-Wood had to take it easier after injury in 31st ,  Daniel Garcia Rasines was 85th , Andrew Mitchell 104th (1st M50) and Mat Chatway and Matt Douthwaite 122nd and 125th.   The men’s team are in 7th place out of 12 teams in the League’s 1st Division after 4 of the 5 fixtures.
