Southern Athletics League Match 2 Report

On Sunday June 22nd, in Eton, over 100 TVH athletes set out to compete in our second SAL match of the year. We were determined to carry momentum from our match 1 victory, and maintain our winning streak.
Hosted by Windsor at their home track, on one of the hottest days of the Summer, we knew we had a tough day ahead of us. But as soon as the gun started the first race, we soared to the top of the leaderboard.
Nicole Kendall kick-started the competition with a dominant win in the 400m hurdles, replicated minutes later by Sophie Elliss in the B-string race. And that was just the beginning.
Throughout the day, we achieved a total of 23 victories on the track; including clean sweeping both genders of the 100m and 400m. Oskar Fraser-Krauss took an impressive win in the men’s 800m B-race, before doubling up to finish second in the 3k just hours later. Meanwhile, Lydia Blythe fought tooth and nail in the women’s 3k race to clinch the win, running a PB in the process! Minutes later, Katie Sherlock cruised to a PB in the 200m, dipping under 25s for the first time, while TVH enjoyed a double win in the women’s A and B 100mH!
On the field we had our fair share of impressive performances too – racking up a total of 12 wins! The men soared to victory in the pole-vault, triple jump, and javelin, while TVH women dominated high jump, long jump, discus, and hammer. In the shotput, Sophie Mace’s 11.97m throw earned her a well earned 10 year PB!
Not only were individual performances impressive, TVH also racked up maximum points the relays. And our win in the men’s 4X100m was made even sweeter by smashing the league record, in a time of 40.96s!
Everyone’s incredible efforts ensured that we were, once again, the victorious club of the match, winning by 25 points – a huge margin, especially considering the strength of the opposition!
WOTM: Louisa Snape for her tireless commitment, competing in the triple jump (and jumping a PB!), high jump, pole vault, and the 4X400.
MOTM: Lewis Sorhaindo for his impressive 13.37m jump in the triple jump, which secured a dominant win, as well as a huge long jump pb!
As ever, an enormous thank you to our coaches, volunteers, officials, parents, and supporters, without whom none of this would be possible.
We’re so grateful to everyone who gave up their Sundays to compete for us, helping us inch ever closer to the SAL title! The next match is at Finsbury Park, on July 13th – a home match, so we hope to see each and every one of you there! Even if you’re not competing, volunteering gives us valuable points, and your support is always needed!
