Southern Athletics League Match 1 Report

We started this season with a dream to retain out SAL title from last year. And, on May 17th at Basingstoke, our battle began.

Beneath blue skies, surrounded by our fierce rivals, and fuelled by the famous snack bag, we were set. Old faces and new faces alike (covered in face-paint of course), united as a team. Sprints, jumps, endurance, throws and vaulting – we had it covered.

Despite tough competition from the other clubs, we had some brilliant performances throughout the day – from dominant gun to tape runs, to close battles fought tooth and nail. Overall, we had 23 wins, including some impressive personal achievements!

A Club Record in the javelin from Harriet Court – just an average day for this new found superstar.

Pbs galore – a whopping 31 of them! While we can’t list them all, honourable mentions go to Kerisha Patterson and Joe Johansen’s 3 pbs each across the heavy throws. Morris Rock stormed to a 50 second PB in the 3,000 steeple, to win full points with The Newt. Tia McCootie sped to a 1.36s 200m pb, while on the field, Lily Holt claimed a 1.3m shot-put pb.

TVH’s team spirit was shown not only by those smashing their main events, but also the athletes willing to try different events to score valuable points.

We’re so proud of everybody for their amazing performances, contributions to the team, and the brilliant atmosphere we built. If there were bonus points for being the loudest team cheering in the relays, we’d win them too!

WotM – Ella Burfitt – for running a 4 second PB to win the 1500m after a rapid 3000m.

MotM – Ochuko Edward – on his TVH debut, he generously offered to step in all 3 jumps to cover gaps, and got 2 pbs (HJ and LJ) along the way

Total points: 338 – winning the match by 55 points!

Thank you to everybody: athletes, parents, volunteers, officials, and supporters. We could not have done this without every one of you.
