Results round up – Track, Road and Young Athletes Virtual Races

It has been a busy few days of  competitions for TVH athletes as we near the end of the extended track season with open meetings, road races and a young athletes virtual race.

Track & Field –  track there were two new club records for young athletes at open meetings; Louis Hodge (U17) ran 3000m in 8:51.53 at Harrow on 10th September, 20 seconds faster than he ran in 2019 and Max Bishop (U15) ran  800m in 2:03.21 at Dagenham on 12th September, improving his club record by 6 seconds.   Basil Rock (U17) improved his 800m PB to 2:01.01 at the Dagenham meeting (also 6 seconds quicker than last year) and his 1500m time to 4:17.34 at Battersea on 15th Sept (photo of Basil © Hamudphotos).   Louis, Max and Basil are all coached by Dave Wilkinson.    Skye Bishop didn’t fare as well as her brother at Dagenham,  clipped from behind at the first corner Skye suffered a broken finger and a grazed knee, elbow and shoulder but still got up and finished the U13 Girls 800m race. Races have changed a lot in a few weeks since the 800m restarted run in lanes for the whole distance.

Charlotte Buckley ran her second race of the season at Battersea, a well judged 1500m in 4:39.36, as did Michael Cameron in 4:01.42 and Oli Barbaresi improved his 800m PB further to 1:54.76 at Trafford.

U17s Reece Earle and Joel Houslin who train together, ran well at a sprints meeting at Harrow on 17th Sept,  Reece running 11.04 secs and Joel with a big improvement to  11.31 secs and 11.35 secs but with following wind just above the permitted level.

Hammer thrower Jack Paget, who has competed at 5 events since July,  had a big improvement at Loughborough on 9th September adding 4m to his PB with a throw of 61.23m.

Middlesex Young Athletes Virtual Races

This took place during the week 6th to 13th Sept, which was the week before the Middlesex road relays would have taken place at Hayes, but a difficult week to arrange with schools reopening.  We had 19 athletes taking part, with 170 in total from Middlesex clubs, U11 / U13 ran 1500m and U15 and older 3,000m. We organised at Linford Christie Stadium during training sessions on the Tues, Thurs and Sat.

Congratulations to our Girls teams who both won their 3 to score team events

U13 Girls  Natasha Bennett, Farrah Ceric and Minna Williams and the U15 Girls  Maya Sutaria, Charlotte Edge and Anna Kelly.

Maya ran the fastest time by an U15 Girl (her previous race was in an open meeting over 300m) and Minna has joined recently and it was her first (although virtual) race for the club.
