TVH girls win English Schools Cup

Congratulations to India Weir (8), Kosana Weir (13), Verity Walker (21) and Margaux Couffon  (29), who won the Intermediate Girls race!

Roy Clarridge reports:

Congratulations to Godolphin and Latymer School on winning the English Schools Intermediate Girls Cross Country Cup. The race was held in Newquay against 22 other schools who had all qualified in two earlier rounds to be there. The Godolphin team of six runners had five TVH girls in their team. The sixth, Margaux Couffon, is also expected to join the club.

First home for Godolphin was India Weir in eighth place. She recorded the same time as Katy-Ann McDonald, last years winner, who was seventh. Katy is the English Schools 1500m champion and was the national cross country champion in 2013. So to be up there with her is a tremendous achievement for India who has missed the last two weeks training with a sprained ankle. Close behind them, Kosana Weir also had a great race to finish 13th. Verity Walker continued her good form to finish in 21st place. The revelation of the race was the tremendous result of Margaux Couffon because her main sport is swimming. The non-scorers for Godolphin were Rose Barkle who is a year younger than the rest of the team and still finished in the top half of the race with her 55th place. Matilda Ferrand also ran well for 80th out of 121 finishers.

Running for Putney High School, Hannah Jusu-Sheriff finished 50th to help her school win bronze medals.
