Middlesex Young Athletes League Trial Meeting
TVH young athletes competed in a trial Middlesex League meeting at Allianz Park on Sunday 14th August. With the event taking place in the middle of the summer holidays, the small team featured both established athletes and several making their first competitive appearance for TVH. The team did particularly well in the under 11 and under 13 events.

In the U13 Girls events, Zakia Mossi finished a busy and successful track season with an easy win in the 800m followed by a 13.80 secs 100m win. Angel Acheampong ran 14.60 secs in the ‘B’ race, Lily Dafter followed her 800m with the long jump and a win in the javelin with 16.20m and Tessa Glazebrook performed well in the hurdles and long jump.
Two of the most impressive performances of the day came in the U11 Girls 100m with Olivia Sparks winning the A race in 14.78 secs and Ella Goodall winning the B race in 15.61 secs. Ella also won the howler throw with nearly 25 metres and Olivia joined Zakia, Angel and Lily for an easy win in the U13 Girls 4 x 100m relay.
Charlotte Buckley had just returned from a week long training camp at Loughborough but still ran a 65 sec first lap in the U15 Girls 800m before easing off for an easy win and also finished a close second in the 200m. Melina Duer won the B race in the 800m, with older brother Nicholas 2nd in the U17 1500m. Samuel Conteh ran a solid 12.25 secs in the U15 Boys 100m.
Basil Rock has performed very well this season in the U13 Boys 1500m and this was another comfortable win for him, supported well by Alfie Turner winning the B race. Basil and Alfie’s younger brothers Morris Rock and Max Turner had a close race in the U11 Boys 800m race and competed well in the throws, jumps and sprints.
