Indoor Results round-up – new records for Pippa Rogan, Rachel Miller, Amelia Strickler and Jack Hatton

It has been a busy start to the year for many TVH athletes competing Indoors with competitions every weekend in January.  The highlights for this month have included new records for Pippa Rogan, Rachel Miller, Amelia Strickler and Jack Hatton.  

Rachel (coached by Linford Christie) and Jack had secured their places at the Vienna / Bratislava International meetings on 26th / 27th January and both ran PBs and new Club Records at the South of England Indoor Championships at Lee Valley; Rachel running 7.24 secs for 60m and Jack 7.90 secs for 60m hurdles.  Rachel improved further to 7.20 secs in Vienna and Jack ran 7.93 secs in Bratislava. Luke Lennon-Ford also competed in Vienna  running 47.86 secs in the 400m.

Pippa Rogan broke the long standing Championship Best Performance at Lee Valley, equalling her 1.82m indoor best.   Amelia Strickler improved her indoor shot best to 17.24m in Cardiff on 11th January, just 6cm less than her outdoor best.

Zoey Clark won the 60m / 200m double at the Scottish Indoor Championships on 26th January; two 60m races and a 7.42 secs PB and three 200m races and just 0.02 secs outside her indoor best with 23.60 secs.

Seniors & U20s    Pippa Rogan won the women’s high jump competition with a jump of 1.82m, breaking the championship record that had stood for 17 years. The fastest 60m time of the day of 7.24 secs for Rachel Miller and 3rd place in the final for Clieo Stephenson.   Three TVH athletes in the U20 Women’s 800m final with Charlotte Buckley 1st  in 2:13.18. 

Jack Hatton  improved his club record to 7.90 secs in finishing 3rd in the 60m hurdles,  and   Keano-Elliott Paris-Samuel finished  2nd  in the 200m in 22.03 secs.    Luke Lennon-Ford ran 49.13 secs and Nicholas Attwell  49.29 secs in the 400m.

Young Athletes

U15 Boys:    Reece Earle followed up his 7.14 secs club record 60m run before Christmas with a championship double winning the 60m in 7.17 secs and the 200m in  24.16 secs.  Noor-Eldin Mahmoud has been busy competing indoors in the high jump and jumped a pb of 1.81m at the London Games competition at Lee Valley the week before the southern champs.  Max Bishop ran 2:18.89 secs for 800m the day after competing for TVH at the Met League cross country.

U17 Men   Greg Zoppos  –  3rd Shot Put 11.25m and Long jump 6.11m

U17 Women  Ruth-Ann Otaruoh – 3rd Triple Jump  10.88m

London Senior & U20 Games – Lee Valley  26th / 27th January

With many TVH athletes competing at the London Games event, some of the highlights included;  

400m –  the three fastest times of the day for European Champs finalist Ricardo dos Santos 48.08 secs,  Nicholas Atwell  48.81secs and hurdler Chris McAlister 48.88 secs.

60m hurdles –  Angelita Broadbelt-Blake close to her best with 8.47 secs

60m  U20 men – Oluwole Orimoloye 7.01 secs

800m  men –  Abdi Mohamed  1:55.54;    women –  Alice Harray (U20)   2:15.65,    Amelia Casey (U20)  2:19.28. 

Triple Jump –  Jude Bright Davies 14.95m,   Joel Bright-Davies  13.04m
