Graham joined TVH in 1971 at the age of 23 and competed as an endurance athlete before becoming one of the highest level officials from TVH. Graham had a very good career as an official, he was a chief timekeeper officiating at international level at track, cross country and road events as well as officiating for TVH and Middlesex County. He became a Chief Timekeeper at a very young age, and officiated at all the major meetings throughout the 80s and 90s.
As an athlete he was a great supporter of the club during his running days competing wherever required in track, cross country and road races to help the club and was a good level marathon runner in the 1970s. Graham’s great strength was his determination and persistence and he competed in marathons including national championships before marathon running became mainstream and in fields as small as 30 to 40. Graham’s brother Andrew was also a member of TVH as a track runner and his father Dennis Bentley was a high level timekeeper with TVH for many years.
Graham was also involved in administration of the club and served as President of the North of the Thames cross country.
