Following government’s announcement of a ‘roadmap’ out of lockdown, England Athletics have confirmed outdoor group activities can take place from March 29. Conditions and safety precautions to satisfy a return of club sessions to Linford Christie Stadium are being discussed with Hammersmith & Fulham council.
A proposed date of Tuesday March 30 has been set for club sessions to return, although this is to be confirmed and announced on Thursday March 11. COVID-safe criteria are likely to include a maximum member of athletes per coach, truncated session times, segregated meeting zones within the stadium, limitations on equipment available for use and strict access restrictions for non-participants.
It is expected that not all coaches, active athletes and volunteers, will wish to return to club sessions immediately and we will encourage all of our members to only return to activities on their own terms. We will support all members who feel it is safer to stay isolated until all governmental restrictions are lifted, or when personal circumstances allow.
Safety remains at the heart of all our operations so we will ensure all members will feel comfortable in a positive environment. Our friendly front of house staff will greet you on arrival and point you towards your group’s meeting point. The clubhouse will be temporarily closed to all kinds of training or preparation, although W/C access will still be available.
Full details on what to expect when we return will be published on March 11.
Our team of coaches, volunteers and officials are working hard to deliver as much activity as possible, however with more volunteers, we will be able to offer more to our members. If you’d like to get involved as a volunteer, official, team management, coach or can offer services in another role, please email General Manager, Andre Fernandez, on email@example.com
