Big performances at the first Southern Counties Veterans League

Last night TVH competed in the first of the Southern Counties Veterans League.

Although it was only a small team there were some big performances.

Allan Mc Sween sprinted to 100m M35A string victory in 11.9s and the only man on the night to go sub 12 seconds, following this up with a win in the shot put by nearly a metre with a best of 9.13m.
Tamas Joo continued our M35 sprinters dominance in the B string with a 12.4s win with a margin of over one 1 second to the next sprinter.

Berenger Akue Assoumou showed the Valley men’s depth by winning the non-scoring 100 in 12.5seconds, before taking first place in the M35A 400m in 57.5 seconds with Robert Datnow winning the B string in 58.1s.

Maurice Quirke was our sole M50 athlete and had a busy night with a 4th place in both the 100m (14.5s) and 400m with a time of 66.3s. Not having had enough Maurice then long jumped 3.74m for another 4th so surely top 3 must be the goal next outing!

Sam Nash placed third in a tightly contested long jump with 4.99m.
In the Discus Greg Bennet threw a PB of 27.33m to take full points and ran a 5:07.1 5th place in the M35A 1500metres.

James Malcom ran a 5:12.5 M35B 1500metres, literally straight after his 3rd place non scoring 66.9s 400m, on top of a 14.1s in the 100m.

To top the night off, our relay team of Benji, Robert, Tom and Allan put on a commanding display in the 4x400m relay with a big win in a time of 3mins 58.2seconds.

Big thanks to those who attended last night with a special shout out to JJ for his support. The preliminary results can be found here:
