Adela keeps winning run going at Southern Inter Counties and Met League, TVH men win Middlesex Championships and Indoor round- up

Adela Svihalkova representing Middlesex at the Southern Inter County Cross Country Championships on 11th December 2021 had her biggest win of the season so far in the U15 Girls 4km race in a very close finish with Abigail Reid from Essex in a high quality race on a hilly course in Lloyd Park, Croydon with Skye Bishop making her Middlesex debut. Jasmine Palmer also ran well for Middlesex finishing in the top third in the U20 6km race in 17th place.

Middlesex County Cross Country Championships Sat 8th January 2022
The TVH men’s team retained the county championships team trophy with a very dominant win at an extremely wet and muddy Horsenden Hill. 15 Valley men competed in In the 6 to score 12.6km race and the winning team all finished in the top 15 of nearly 150 runners; Michael Cameron in 3rd, Toby Clyde 5th, Hugo Cayssials 7th, Niki Faulkner 9th, Oli Newton 13th and Jake Hooley in 15th. Michael Crone was next home in 19th followed by Rob Vallance in 33rd , Ryan Keane in 40th and Manuel da Silva our first veteran athlete in 63rd.
Our women’s team placed 5th in the 4 score race over 8.3km with Steph Ainley (11th) and Lisa da Silva (13th) the highest placed ahead of Rosie Vallance in 32nd and Fran Lou in 50th , Joy Giorgio also coping well in the mud in 59th out of 97 finishers.
The U20 and U17 athletes competed over a 6.3km course, with 9 TVH athletes taking part. Charlotte Buckley (2nd) led our U20 women to 1st place with Izzy Franco in 3rd and Jasmine Palmer in 5th racing with Charli Edge 6th in U17 race with Zenia Gordon in 11th. In the junior men’s race Daniel Benton finished 2 secs ahead of Basil Rock with Max Bishop (U17) next home after some dramatic slides in the mud and then Shami Umashankar.
In the young athletes races the U15 Girls team finished second in the worst of the weather, Maya Sutaria 7th just holding off Skye Bishop in 8th and Anna Kelly in 12th making up the 3 to score team ahead of Orla Grist finishing strongly in 14th and Nico Lind with her best run of the season in 17th. The U15 Boys team of Reggie Rock, Louis Moore and Harry Greenfields worked together over the first of two 2km laps with Reggie (12th) pulling ahead towards the finish with Louis in 15th and Harry 21st all finishing in the top half. In the U13 3.2km races Zachary Moore and Sunny Jabbar competed well and Xanthe Greenfields had a strong finish for her best run of the season.
The day started with the U11 Boys race with Luis da Silva in 9th and Thor Ceric fresh from scoring 4 goals in his earlier football game in 15th out of 35 runners.

Start Fitness Metropolitan Cross Country League, Wormwood Scrubs 15th January 2022
TVH hosted the 4th Met League fixture on a muddy Wormwood Scrubs but not quite as bad as the previous weeks races at Horsenden Hill with the course drying out a little over the previous 3 days.
Adela Svihalkova returned from biathlon training over the holidays to maintain her unbeaten run in cross country races this season, winning all 6 of her races so far. The junior (U15 & U17) course was slightly under 4km but much slower going than when we hosted the cross country relays in October. Maya Sutaria in 14th was next home for TVH with Katerina Simakova in 19th and Anna Kelly in 20th making up the 4 to score ‘A’ team. With one fixture remaining the TVH junior women have a good lead in the team competition. 12 TVH girls took part in the race, Eloise Quickenden in 25th in her debut race for the club along with twins Isobel and Stella Martin.
The junior men’s team were well led by Max Bishop in 10th with Luca Zorzi holding off Reggie Rock. In the U11 races Luis da Silva had another great race in 6th place just ahead of Adela’s brother Bernie in 8th with Thor Ceric (19th) and Jacob Sebbata (36th) the team finished 4th.
27 TVH athletes ran in the men’s race with 440 finishers, the team finished 3rd and are now in 4th place in the league. Toby Clyde finished strongly in 6th overtaking Michael Cameron in 9th with Hugo Cayssials (12th), Chris Thomas (15th) and Conor Kissane-Wood (19th) also in the top 20. The scoring team of 12 included three U20 athletes Daniel Benton, Oliver Lock and Basil Rock and one veteran athlete Mat Chataway. There were 9 TVH athletes in the women’s race of 190 runners, Emily Todd (13th), Lisa da Silva (21st), Steph Ainley (28th), U20 Izzy Franco (39th), Lydia Blythe (66th) and Rosie Vallance (71st) were the scoring 6 and the team are also now in 4th place in the league.

Indoor Competitions – the indoor season started to get underway in January with many TVH athletes competing in the UK and abroad.

60m – Reece Earle equalled his 60m PB of 7.02, Josh Kelly was just outside his with 7.34, Shenal Kuranage 7.96 and Patricia Grudz-Edmondson 8.00 both set new best times.
200m – Josh Kelly 23.32, Reece Earle 23.40
800m – U15 Natasha Bennett made her indoor debut with a decent time of 2:27.89
