5th for TVH ladies at the ECCC

The TVH ladies headed over to Castello, Spain ready for the European Champion Club Cup across the bank holiday weekend (25th-26th May 2019). It turned out to be an exciting weekend of athletics with Club records, personal bests and Seasons bests for many of the girls! We hit the ground running on day 1, with strong performances across the board. Aisha got us off to great start on the points board with a 3rd place finish in the 400m hurdles in a time of 59.24. Rachel backed this up with a 2nd in the 100m in a time of 11:49. Charlotte ran 2:10:33 for 6th in a very closely fought 800m match, whilst Zoey secured a second place finish with 53.35 in the 400m. Kirsty finished 7th in the 3000m and Steph had a great run in the Steeple coming very close to the club record in a time of 11:15:74.
Over on the field Clare secured 6th place in the pole vault with a height of 3.60m and Kathryn threw a seasons best of 49.33m in the discus for 4th. Lia jumped 5.61m in the long jump for 6th and Olga threw 36.35 in the javelin for 7th.
We finished the first day with a club record in the 4 x 100m with 46.02! Overall we were 5th on the leader board but there was very little in it between 3rd -6th which meant it was all still to play for.
Day 2 saw a string of good performances with Angie starting us off on the track with 14:17 in the 100m hurdles for 7th. Kosana also secured 7th in the 1500m with 4:48 in the 1500m, whilst Zoey got 6th in the 200m in a time of 23.78. Lisa ran a big seasons best in the 5000m for 18:13 in 7th against a stacked field.
Over in the field Angela placed 4th in the triple jump with 13.24m and Pippa matched 4th with a seasons best of 60.75m in the hammer. Our other Pippa finished a fantastic second in the high jump with a height of 1:82m whilst Amelia definitely secured the performance of the day with a PB of 17.83m in the shot put and first place gaining maximum points for the team.
Our 4x400m relay team did brilliantly with Charlotte stepping down from the 800m and Annie stepping up from the 100/200m to complete the team. What fantastic team spirit and commitment! The girls finished a brilliant 5th.

5th was our number for the day and secures our position in group A. The team did brilliantly and we have no doubt that we have the talent to progress to one of those podium positions in the future! A big thank you to all those that supported the team. In particular Manuel Da Silva, Paul Oppe and Roy who travelled with us. Manuel is the team manager and puts an incredible amount of work in throughout the year, to which we are incredibly grateful.
Here’s to year ahead, with more victories, pb’s and great experiences in track and field.
Up the Valley!
