Strong performances from TVH’s Young Athletes at the Nationals

In the largest young athletes race of the championships there were 449 finishers in the under 13 girls race. So our 30th team position was quite respectable. Best performance for TVH came from Kate Price who is only just 11 and finished seven places in front of Ava White. Olivia Colegrave has been resting an injury for several weeks and did well to finish 297th. In 331st place Lily Salkeld was our last scorer. Charlotte Cooney-Quinn also did well to have 90 girls finish behind her.

After having three teams finish in the National Championships last year a in Parliament Hill, London, it was slightly disappointing to only have the under 13 girls close in at Donington Park. Those who made the trip to this testing Midland course represented the club well.

Under 13 Alfie Turner ran despite having an injury and was 262nd in the under 13 boys event. In the under 15 championships we only had one boy and one girl competing. Louis Medd is just getting back from injury and was 259th out of 367 finishers. Charlotte Buckley was our best individual position of the day with her 49th in the girls race.

Unfortunately the Valley under 17 women didn’t close in a team. Alice Harray attempted to get round with a bad heel injury but had to drop out. Again, Kosana Weir got the better of sister India by six places and Verity Walker had one of her best runs of the winter to finish 116th.
