Start Fitness Metropolitan League Fixture 3, Hillingdon, Saturday 1st December 2018
It was an eventful afternoon for TVH athletes in the 3rd Met League fixture at a wet and muddy Hillingdon House Farm course, with a crossing of the River Pinn making it even wetter. Our best result came in the Girls U15 / U17 race with Charlotte Buckley in 2nd place, Sarah Kebble on her Met League debut in 4th and Jasmin Palmer first U15 in 5th place with Melina Duer last scorer in 24th place with Niamh Murphy just behind her leading the ‘B’ team. The club celebrated the 25th anniversary of the first competitive fixture for our women’s team at our Awards Evening in the clubhouse on Weds 21st Nov 2018 with the presentation of a new annual award, the Maz Ralph Trophy.
The award was very kindly donated by Ray Culberson, the Club President at the time who helped set up the team to first compete in April 1993. Ray also helped the celebrations by documenting those early days of the team in 1993 in a fascinating article from his home in Vancouver Island, Canada. From their first track & field fixture in the Southern Women’s League Division 4 at Walthamstow the rise of our women’s team to winning the UK Women’s Athletics League Premier Division in 2015, 2017 and 2018 has been phenomenal.
Start Fitness Metropolitan League 2nd Fixture, Saturday 11th Nov 2018 Welwyn Garden City
It was a great day for TVH with three race winners in the 2nd Met League fixture – Petros Surafel and Tracy Barlow in the senior races and Skye Bishop in the U11 Girls race. Skye and Tracy both had to contend with the perils of leading their races with unclear course markings and Petros had the torrential rain and hailstones to contend with during the men’s race. For a change this season the young athletes had the best of the conditions for the early races on the testing course in Stanborough Park.
Other great performances included Charlotte Buckley and Jasmine Palmer in the U17 / U15 race, Reggie Rock in the U11 Boys and good team performances from our U13 Girls and Boys teams.
