TVH young athletes competed in a trial Middlesex League meeting at Allianz Park on Sunday 14th August. With the event taking place in the middle of the summer holidays, the small team featured both established athletes and several making their first competitive appearance for TVH. The team did particularly well in the under 11 and under 13 events.

Travelling to Tonbridge for the final Southern League match of the season on Saturday it was always going to be a close match and close end to the season for the Valley men and women as they were up against 3 teams just behind them in the league table. Six TVH ladies competed at the Manchester International between England, Scotland, Wales, Ulster & Northern Ireland, Great Britain & NI Juniors, UK Armed Forces and the combined British Athletics League/ UK Women’s Athletics League teams.
The inaugural Manchester International saw the crowd enthusing over the action on the track and in the field as many athletes made the most of the opportunity to post impressive end of season performances.
Going into the title deciding match at Allianz Park, Hendon, Thames Valley Harriers ladies knew that if they finished ahead of Birchfield Harreirs on the day that they would retain their UKWAL title. It was one of our toughest fixtures ever, with the team missing some key athletes due to injury and weddings. The TVH ladies fought for every point but it was not quite enough to hold off a very strong Birchfield Harriers team who won the match. TVH ladies finished third on the day but still held on to second place overall in the league and the top club in the South of England.
